Bachelor of Science in Nursing prepares students to work in a wide variety of clinical settings by both theoretical and practical instruction. Providing patient care is a combination of observing, assessing, and recording patient symptoms, reactions and progress. Students acquire the skills to do this, and become advocates and health educators for patients, families and communities.

The bachelor’s program is designed to provide theory and research-based clinical practice focusing on critical thinking, human caring, and clinical expertise. Moreover, the combination of nursing science curriculum with related disciplines including the biological, social, behavioral, medical, pharmaceutical, and biomedical sciences will prepare students to address the span of healthcare needs and to be leaders in the healthcare and academic environments.

To become a registered nurse, students are required to have a Bachelors degree or the equivalent, which takes two years and ten month of full time study to complete.

Nurses promote health, prevent disease and help patients cope with illness. They have a unique scope of practice and can practice independently, although they also collaborate with all members of the health care team to provide the care needed by each patient as an individual. Nurses are hands-on health professionals who provide focused and highly personalized care. The field has a wide range of career opportunities, ranging from entry-level practitioner to doctoral-level researcher.

Nurses also serve as advocates for patients, families and communities. They develop and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and their families in proper care and help individuals and groups take steps to improve or maintain their health.
